Follow the instructions on how to unlock SFD:
Connect to a vehicle and open the list of ECUs by tapping: 
Choose the required ECU. Normally you will see more ECUs in the list, for this example we will use the Gateway ECU.

Scroll down the list and you will see “SFD Protectionâ€. Start unlocking the SFD by tapping:

OBDeleven can automatically detect that the ECU is locked by SFD if you go to Long Coding, Adjustments, or are using One-Click Apps and are trying to write data but the ECU is still locked. In this situation, the application will ask you for authorization for the SFD unlock procedure.

Follow the steps by tapping on “UNLOCK”

To continue, confirm your email address (if you haven’t already), enable Two-Factor Authentication, and update your account information.

Proceed by tapping:

Start the activation of the 2-step authentication by tapping:

If that doesn’t work, click on “Learn more†or HERE, and follow the instructions.

Once you’ve completed the 2-step authentication, proceed by tapping:

To access the SFD functionality for the first time, you will be asked to update your personal data. This data is required by the agreement with Volkswagen AG.

Follow by tapping:

Enter your personal information such as first name, last name, country, and phone number.

Workshop information is necessary when using the device in the workshop.

Once you have provided the necessary information, you must agree to the privacy policy and terms and conditions.

Save the information by tapping:

Finish setting up by tapping:
-
Now you can access ECUs that are protected by SFD.
How can you check if an ECU is protected by SFD?
Go to live data in the ECU, and search for SFD.
If you see “SFD activated status”, it means that the ECU is protected by SFD.
